Activities and School-Wide Engagement
At St. John's Academy Vancouver, there is no doubt that students work hard. Students are provided with support and challenges to help them achieve their greatest potentials, but we also value the need for experiential learning that takes place as a whole community on and off campus. Here's a collection of the events that we take part in throughout the school year.
EFP 11 converted the classroom to a museum for the day featuring authentic Indigenous art from the Pacific Northwest.

In-Class Activities

Sports Day
A healthy mind requires fresh air and healthy competition. Students and teachers participated in Sports Day to build teamwork and collaboration.

Indigenous Storytelling Workshop
For generations, knowledge was passed down through stories. Storytelling is a vital part of the learning journey. Here, Dallas Yellowfly and Alysha Collie lead and engage our students in a storytelling workshop with St. John's Academy staff and students.

Grouse Mountain
Our trip to Grouse Mountain was an amazingly connected experience. Students and teachers connected nature and Indigenous teachings during a guided tour through the mountain sites and a visit to the híwus Feasthouse. Not only did they have the opportunity to see the bears, and ride on the tram and chairlift, but they also learned the value of respect and gratitude through traditional Indigenous storytelling and dance.

Deep Cove - Kayaking
It was a rainy day partway through, but that didn't stop the great time everyone had kayaking in Deep Cove. Being on water and connecting with the elements are just some of the beauties of the Pacific Westcoast.

Playland
To get rid of some of the anxiety surrounding final exams, everyone enjoyed a day at Playland bonding and building friendships before the end of the school year.
